Chris Kaman’s head is telling him he’s ready to play basketball again.

But with Dwight Howard looming for the Mavericks’ only ABC television appearance of the season Sunday, maybe Kaman should try that NBA concussion test one more time.

“There are a lot easier matchups than Dwight Howard,” Kaman said Saturday. “But it is what it is. I just need to get out there and play.”

Kaman expects to be back on the court against Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers. The 7-foot center went through a combination practice and shootaround Saturday afternoon at American Airlines Center.

He said after the workout and a rigorous game of one-on-one with Dominique Jones that he’s been cleared to play. Kaman’s missed the last 10 games after suffering a concussion on Jan. 28.
