The Chiefs signed safety Husain Abdullah , who gave up football last year because of obligations relating to his Muslim faith. Before that, Abdullah, 27, played four seasons for the Minnesota Vikings, making 24 starts.

He and his brother, Hamza, also a safety, made a pilgrimage to Mecca during the 2012 NFL season.

Hamza, 29, appeared in 16 games in 2011 for the Cardinals.

Husain Abdullah, 6 feet and 204 pounds played in college at Washington State.
