Clubhouse confidential: Catcher Carlos Santana saw stars in the ninth inning in Wednesday's 9-2 loss to Seattle. No, he didn't see Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie.

Santana saw the kind of stars that are caused by a foul ball hitting him square in the face mask off the bat of Brendan Ryan. Not only did it knock him on his rear end, it knocked him out of the game as Lou Marson finished the inning.

"It was the second time I got hit in the mask during the game," said Santana. "I saw stars."

Manager Manny Acta removed Santana as a safety precaution. He said Santana's neck was sore. Santana said he was fine and will be in the lineup Friday.
