News broke an hour ago that Andrew Cashner was injured in a hunting accident today. It did not involve a gun. Relax Bob Costas.

One of Cashner's hunting buddies was field dressing the meat, slipped and stabbed Cashner who presumably holding the animal carcass.

The puncture wound resulted in 2 stitches and a lacerated tendon in the right thumb. Cashner, a right handed pitcher, underwent surgery for the injury and is expected be out of commission for the next 3 months. According to Darren Smith's interview with Corey Brock (MP3), "he's very, very likely to start the season on the Disabled List".
