After having his rotation decimated by injuries over the past few weeks Terry Collins just wanted some innings from Carlos Torres Thursday.

Thrust into the rotation from the bullpen after Matt Harvey was shut down Monday with an elbow injury Torres gave the Mets a real mental boost Thursday.

Torres held off the Phillies for 6 2/3 innings as the Mets closed out the series with a 11-3 matinee win at Citi FIeld.

It was just the second win in eight games for the Mets who went 3-6 on this homestand. It was the last trip to Citi Field this season for the Phillies (61-73) who went 3-7 here this season.

Torres allowed one run on four hits. He struck out six.

Torres the Mets long man out of the bullpen most of the season will finish the season in the rotation as the Mets try to keep five starters after getting hit with elbow injuries to Harvey Jeremy Hefner and Jenrry Mejia in the last few weeks.
