The Colorado Rockies are counting on Carlos Gonzalez for a lot this season. That is especially true given the fact that they are moving him to center field full time, pending a surprise performance from Drew Stubbs in spring training.

CarGo’s health was already a top story for the Rockies entering 2014. He missed the bulk of the second half of 2013 with a lingering finger injury. Now comes word that Gonzalez had to undergo an emergency appendectomy late Friday night.

CarGo distinguishes himself from the rest of the league because he is that rare player that truly has “five tools.” Unfortunately for the Rockies, they will now have to monitor closely to see if two of those tools, his power and his speed, are impacted by these recent injuries.
