Scouting Report: Grubauer appears to be the next in a long line of young goalies developed by the Capitals in recent years. Because the NHL lockout forced Braden Holtby into the starter’s role in Hershey, Grubauer began the season with the Reading Royals and was named starter for the ECHL All-Star Game. When the lockout ended and Grubauer was promoted to Hershey he again stepped up to the challenge. Known for his excellent positioning and his ability to steer rebounds into the corners, Grubauer showed flashes of his potential with 35 minutes of shutout hockey in his NHL debut for the Caps on Feb. 27, then following with 40 saves in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders on March 9.
