The Washington Capitals on Wednesday signed free-agent goaltender Pheonix Copley to a two-year, entry-level contract that will take effect in the 2014-15 season.

Copley, 22, spent the past two seasons at Michigan Tech of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. He appeared in 30 games for the Huskies this season, posting a 10-13-6 record with one shutout, a .911 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average.
