Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was spotted at Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, sparking speculation he was scouting Memphis coach Lionel Hollins as a potential replacement for Vinny Del Negro.

Turns out he might have been checking out another candidate.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday that Spurs coach Mike Budenholzer is on a lengthy list of targets. It includes former Cavaliers coach Byron Scott, Golden State assistant Mike Malone, Indiana assistant Brian Shaw, ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy and former Suns coach Alvin Gentry.

An anonymous NBA executive told the Times that Scott, Malone and Budenholzer are the top candidates.
