With big plans to rule the roost down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs, the Bruins have decided their new player-of-the game reward will be a red T-shirt depicting the large face of an angry rooster.
If Nathan Horton and his linemates continue to play the way they played yesterday, opponents will be flying the coop.
Horton produced a Gordie Howe hat trick and combined with David Krejci and Milan Lucic for nine points as the B’s defeated the Washington Capitals, 4-1, at the Garden.
Horton, who scored the game’s first goal with 5:48 left in the first period, was rewarded with the rooster shirt purchased by defenseman Andrew Ference. In past seasons Ference picked up a tacky windbreaker and a link chain to reward the player of the game when the season hit the homestretch.
