The Brewers have signed shortstop Alex Gonzalez to a one-year, $1.5-million deal, confirms Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com had the initial report. Gonzalez can earn close to an additional $1 million based on how well he performs.

The 35-year-old was a member of the Brewers last season, but received just 89 plate appearances. He hit .259/.326/.457. A 14-year veteran, Gonzalez spent the bulk of his career with the Marlins. He's also played for the Reds, Braves, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Brewers.
