The perfect spring training is over for Carlos Gomez. After getting on base in all of his five plate appearances before today, he went just 1-3 against the Royals. He failed to draw a walk, but did strike out and commit a fielding error.

Despite Gomez's relatively poor performance, Milwaukee still jumped out to a 2-1 lead after two innings. Norichika Aoki led off the game with a walk and was immediately driven in on a Logan Schafer double. Chris Narveson's first outing back from injury didn't go so well, as he gave up two singles, a walk and a run in the first inning and couldn't make it longer than the first out in the second inning.

Narveson still left with the lead, though, as the Brewers bats put a second run up in the second inning. Taylor Green and Donnie Murphy, both of whom are fighting for roster spots, drew walks, with Green getting caught stealing second base because for whatever reason, Taylor Green tried stealing second base. I get that it's spring training, but come on.

Blake Lalli ended up doubling in Murphy, and Green getting caught turned out to cost Milwaukee a run as Sean Halton followed that up with a single. Blake Lalli got thrown out at home on the play. Baserunning wasn't exactly the Brewers strong suit today.
