Revis Bowl I?

Perhaps showing a sense of humor, the NFL will send Tampa Bay to MetLife Stadium to open the season against the Jets. The Jets and Buccaneers have been involved in recent trade talks concerning superstar CB Darrelle Revis, according to sources. If that trade eventually happens, Revis' first game back from a torn ACL could be against the team that selected him in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Not surprisingly, coach Rex Ryan refused to address that possibility on a conference call Thursday night, saying only, "The big thing is you're opening [the season] at home. That's all I'm looking at. … I always like to open at home."

And perhaps close the book on the Revis era?

Chance for redemption

Four days after that game, the Jets will visit defending AFC East champion New England. It will be the second straight Thursday night game between the teams.

The Jets were drubbed by the Patriots, 49-19, last Thanksgiving, in a contest that included the infamous "butt fumble" by QB Mark Sanchez that resulted in a Patriots touchdown.
