The Braves activated right-handed setup man Jordan Walden from the disabled list Wednesday and optioned reliever Cory Rasmus back to Triple-A Gwinnett. The move keeps the Braves bullpen at six relievers. Walden pitched a scoreless inning in a minor league rehab outing Monday night for Syracuse. He has been on the DL since May 17 with right shoulder inflammation. The Braves have been thin in their bullpen in both numbers and setup men with both Eric O’Flaherty and Jonny Venters undergoing season-ending “Tommy John” surgery.
Rasmus gave up five runs, including three home runs, in 3 2/3 innings over his first two major league outings.
