Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun was scheduled to test his aching right hand by swinging a bat Tuesday, but even manager Ron Roenicke concedes Braun is probably out until after the All-Star break.

"I think the way we're heading and the way it's looking, I would say that's a good possibility," Roenicke said. "Unless things change in a hurry, where he swings and the next day there's no pain, and he swings again and now we can accelerate that. But it doesn't look like it's going to be that way."

Braun has been on the disabled list since June 14 with an irritated nerve between his right thumb and forefinger.

Braun's swings were to take place in the batting cages below Nationals Park before the game but after reporters exited the clubhouse. Batting practice was washed out Tuesday because of rain, but Braun was never scheduled for any activities on the field.
