Brandon Phillips expected the worse when Tony Watson’s pitch made contact with his left forearm in the eighth inning.

“He got me good,” Phillips said. “When he hit me, I thought it was broke for sure. It just make one of those sounds. I still can’t really close my fist all the way. The first thing that came to mind was Curtis Granderson when he broke his forearm.

“It’s a blessing that it’s not broke.”

X-rays showed no break, but Phillips will be out of the lineup tomorrow.
