Jose Bautista will miss his fourth straight game with a sore back Thursday, as the Blue Jays wrap up their four-game series against the Chicago White Sox at the Rogers Centre.
Bautista told reporters after Wednesday’s game that he doesn’t think he injured his back on a specific play, but started feeling discomfort on the plane ride home to Toronto on Sunday night after he filled in at third base over the weekend in Kansas City.

“I don’t think there was any one particular play or anything that made it that bad,” Bautista told reporters Wednesday night after the Jays’ 7-0 loss to the White Sox. “For whatever reason it just started spasming up Monday morning when I woke up.”
Bautista said that even doing simple tasks such as getting dressed and tying his shoes causes pain, though he remained hopeful that with treatment and painkillers he would return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

“It’s happened to me the last two nights where I leave here and I feel like I’ll be good enough the next day to play and I just wake up and it’s tight again,” he said Wednesday.
