The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Blake Comeau to a one-year contract extension through the 2013-14 National Hockey League season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Comeau, 27, was acquired by the Blue Jackets on April 3, 2013 from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. He tallied 6-6-12 and 20 penalty minutes in 42 games during the 2012-13 season, including 2-3-5, six penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in nine games with Columbus.

“Blake is a dependable two-way forward who combines physical play with ability in the offensive zone,” said Kekalainen. “We liked what we saw from him at the end of last season as he fit in very well with our team and we’re pleased to have signed him to this extension.”
