Predators coach Barry Trotz said he pulled goaltender Pekka Rinne eight minutes into Nashville’s 6-3 loss at Calgary on Friday night to spark his team.

At that point, Rinne had allowed two goals on two shots, but the move didn’t quite spark the Predators as much as it stemmed the Flames’ opportunities to a small degree.

“(I) was just trying to change the mojo and see if I could get the attention of our bench there,” Trotz said. “It was a little bit of a slower bleed.”

It was the second straight game the Predators had pulled Rinne.

“That was his call. I think it was the right call,” Rinne said. “Obviously things weren’t going the right way. I think they scored good goals, but obviously for us just a bad time. It’s embarrassing. I have no excuses. It’s embarrassing. I have to find a way to help my team.”
