Charles Barkley became the latest person to criticize the Nets during their first-round series against the Bulls.

Barkley, speaking during TNT’s coverage Thursday night, said he thinks the Nets “don’t play with a lot of passion ... they just play on talent.”

He also said the only reason the injury-depleted Bulls have a chance to win Game 7 Saturday night in Brooklyn is because the Nets are “a lackadaisical team.”

This comes a week after a Chicago writer said on the halftime show of Game 4 on My9 the Bulls privately were happy to play the Nets in the first round because they felt the Nets were “gutless” and “heartless.”

Not surprisingly, interim coach P.J. Carlesimo disagreed with both assessments of his team’s play after the Nets climbed back into the series with wins in Games 5 and 6 to give themselves a chance to win the series on their home court tonight.

“You’d have to ask Charles or the Chicago writer,” Carlesimo said.

“I’m really happy with our guys’ competitiveness, and the fact that they’ve come back from 3-1 [down in the series], the fact we’ve won on the road ... it’s a little hard to understand how you could think that.”
