Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly on a shortlist to replace ‘under-pressure’ Barcelona boss Tata Martino.

It seems ludicrous to think the man whose team recently made Manchester City look like amateurs could be in danger of losing his job. And it’s even more bizarre to think that Barca rate Villas-Boas after his travails at Tottenham and Chelsea.

However, the story from Barcelona-based newspaper Sport is fleshed out in some detail, with Villas-Boas allegedly one of five potential candidates should Martino be axed.

Despite Barca’s generally serene progress in the Champions League, Barcelona trails leaders Real Madrid by three points in La Liga. And two league defeats this month – against Valencia and at Real Sociedad on Saturday – have apparently prompted the Barca board to draw up contingency plans should results deteriorate further.
