A few Devils experienced some twinges as they walked into Staples Center and then the visitors’ dressing room before Thursday night’s meeting with the Kings.

Their last visit to Staples was on June 11, 2012, a 6-1 loss in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals that ended their championship hopes.

“Not a lot of great memories of the last time in this building and Game 6,” Devils coach Pete DeBoer said.

Certainly not for Steve Bernier, whose boarding penalty against Rob Scuderi proved costly for the Devils that night.

“I have a little bit (of bad memories), like everybody. We didn’t have the result we wanted that night,” Bernier said. “Obviously that was not the way we wanted it to end, but it’s been a year and a half so it’s in the past already.”

He has still not looked at videos of the hit on Scuderi.

“I haven’t looked at it. It’s not a memory I want to have,” Bernier said. “For sure I’ve seen a few highlights of it, or call it what you want. I actuallydid not look at the ceremony or anything else that happened after the game.”
