Blues captain David Backes, who left Thursday's practice early with a groin strain, skated gingerly during today's morning skate but made it through the end. He's listed as a game-time decision for tonight's game against Calgary.
If Backes does not play, it would end his consecutive games played streak at 207. The last time the center missed a game was Jan. 25, 2010, in Calgary.
"Dealing with a few maintenance things," Backes said. "We'll see how it goes hour to hour and hopefully playing tonight...I think it passed the test and hopefully get the nod, so we're 100 percent tonight."
Backes acknowledged that his groin injury had been a minor issue recently, but worsened Thursday.
"There was a little bit of a strain before the day," Backes said. "It was actually feeling better than it had in a while. But I think I got a little bit too ahead of myself. But again, we're hockey players, we fight through things like that and we'll be fine."
Backes is a game-time decision tonight
