Semyon Varlamov was released on $5,000 bail after standing before a judge on Thursday afternoon.

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov has been released on $5,000 bail after standing before a judge on Thursday afternoon. Varlamov has been charged with assault and kidnapping as the result of an altercation with his girlfriend at his apartment on Monday night.

Varlamov posted bond at noon local time, is allowed to travel and had a restraining order imposed against him.

According to his girlfriend, he had been drinking heavily on Monday before storming into the apartment, grabbing her and stomping on her. She alleges that he has assaulted her on multiple occasions, with this instance being minor in comparison. Her attorney, Robert Abrams, asserts that there have been five attacks, one of which left the woman unconscious. This most recent attack resulted in her visiting a hospital for exams and X-rays.
