Can they make it three for three?
If the Tigers go three-for-three — meaning three different players win the AL MVP in three years — who's the most likely third player?
Alex Avila's nod goes to Prince Fielder.
That's not to say, of course, there won't be a repeat winner, with either ace Justin Verlander or slugger Miguel Cabrera claiming No. 2. But if another Tigers player is to make it a trio, Avila said Friday he believes Fielder "is the logical choice."
"It's fun to talk about who it could be," Avila said. "If three guys could win it in three years, and it's not putting any added pressure on Prince because I know he expects a lot of himself … I'm just saying he's that caliber of player, he's that good."
