Playing in front of his childhood idol, young Gabriel Landeskog performed like a man in his NHL debut.
The 18-year old Avalanche rookie, the No. 2 overall selection in the June draft, was one of Colorado's best players in Saturday's 3-0 opening-night loss to Detroit.
"We had a lot of opportunities, and I thought Landeskog definitely had a great game," Avs center Ryan O'Reilly said of his linemate. "He's going to be an awesome player in this league."
