The Astros have signed free agent relief pitcher Chad Qualls to a two-year deal, the club announced Saturday afternoon. It also includes a club option for a third year in 2016.

The deal is for $9.5 million plus incentives, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Qualls, 35, had a 2.61 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 62 innings last season for the Marlins. In his career, he sports a 3.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. He has closing experience -- with the Diamondbacks back in 2009-10 -- but has mostly been used in the seventh or eighth inning in his career.
