Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus opened the championship round of the Venezuelan winter league with a two-hit game that made him the top hitter in the overall playoffs.
Andrus went 2-for-3 in Magallanes' 5-1 win over Lara, lifting his post-season average to .362 for 58 at-bats. Lara's Luis Jimenez, who was 1-for-17 with Seattle last season, is second at .356.
Andrus was also hit by a pitch from right-hander Richard Castillo, of the St. Louis organization, in the eighth inning but stayed in the game.
Volatile veteran right-hander Carlos Zambrano allowed two runs in five innings to get the win. Zambrano remains on the free-agent market.
