Cardinals All-Star first baseman Allen Craig was forced from Wednesday's game against the Reds and sent back to St. Louis for some evaluation on his sprained left foot. Fortunately for Craig and the Cardinals the news was good.

He doesn't have a fracture reporters have been notified (Cardinals.com). There's no set timetable for his return but Craig is expected to be back this season.

Craig 29 is hitting .315/.373/.457 with 29 doubles 13 homers and 97 RBI this season. Obviously losing him from the middle of the order hurts but Matt Adams was waiting in the wings Wednesday night on the bench and came in to deliver two huge home runs -- including the eventual game-winner -- in a one-run 16-inning victory over the Reds.
