All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre is scheduled to make his first spring training appearance for the Texas Rangers on Monday against San Diego.
Beltre has been held out of games because of tightness in the right calf. The extended spring-training schedule this year gave the Rangers the luxury of going slowly with Beltre’s treatment.
Beltre still plans on joining the Dominican Republic team if it advances to the second round of the World Baseball Classic. The Dominican would play in Miami beginning on March 12.
