Roger Goodell is apparently serious about trying to keep the NFL in San Diego. On Saturday, the league’s commissioner will be on hand as the Chargers attempt to collect enough signatures to get their proposed stadium project on the ballot this November.

Goodell will be at a pep rally-type event that will be held at the proposed site for the stadium. It will be hosted by the Chargers, and attended by – among others – Chargers greats LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers, and also chairman Dean Spanos.

The team’s proposal for a new facility is tied in with a much-needed expansion to the city’s convention center. The signatures and a November vote are needed, because the team is proposing a hotel tax hike that would finance $350 million public money for the stadium.
