Manager Bruce Bochy said Sandoval’s diagnosis is ulnar neuritis, an inflammation of the nerve that runs through the elbow. Bochy said Sandoval will get treatment and be assessed later in the week. Bochy also said he has heard nothing about bone chips.
I’m told that over the next few days Sandoval will rest and get treatment, which is not the worst thing for the third baseman. He has played so much recently, in Venezeula and the World Baseball Classic, that he does not really need a lot of at-bats or time at third base ahead of the regular season, which begins in two weeks.
