Browns general manager Ray Farmer said Thursday that reports that the Browns tried to trade Johnny Manziel to the Eagles are false.

Two reports in early April stated that the Browns offered Manziel and picks to the Eagles in a trade for quarterback Sam Bradford . The reports were from Mack Ferguson of and Jason Cole of The Bleacher Report.

Cole stated that the Browns offered Manziel to the Eagles, but were turned down and that the conversation went nowhere.

Farmer said Thursday in his pre-draft press conference that those reports are "not true.''

Manziel is participating in the Browns offseason program, and coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday a report by ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the Browns have "90% moved on from him'' are ridiculous.

The Browns are coaching Manziel hard and will try to determine if he has starting ability.
