If things go well...

This is the year for the New Orleans basketball franchise. New name, new winning attitude. Some great off-season acquisitions (Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans) in addition to the already talented core group (Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson, and Eric Gordon) have the Pelicans set to roll in the competitive Western conference. Is this a championship team right now? Nope. Is this going to be a tough team to play every night and compete for a top 4 spot in the West? Yep. The ceiling is very high in New Orleans and Anthony Davis absolutely ripped the league to shreds in the preseason.  Stay tuned.

If things go poorly...

There could be cause for concern for everyone not named Davis on the roster. This is a classic "only one ball to go around" situation with Holiday, Evans, and Gordon who are all score-first players, and if Monty Williams can't find the right mix along with Al-Farouq Aminu, Anthony Morrow, and Austin Rivers it could be a struggle at times. I dont think there is any question that the Pelicans are a playoff team in the very tough Western conference. I think their floor is in the 43-47 range which could still garner them a #8 seed. Can they be the Memphis Grizzlies of this season, only time will tell.
