If things go well...
New coach, new faces are cause for concern for a regular playoff team like the Nuggets, but they still have the talent to post a winning record and reach the playoffs as a lower seed. This team has been exciting to watch, so hopefully Brian Shaw keeps that offensive tempo and allows this team to run and gun. Unfortunately, with a number of teams in the West stepping up including Golden State and Houston, playoff spots are harder to come by. Trades are needed to make this team a true contender.
If things go poorly...
The concerns we mentioned above could be the reason this team fails to reach the playoffs. They’ve lost key players and their replacements are not going to help them win games. Brian Shaw has a lot of point guards with Andre Miller, Nate Robinson, Randy Foye and Ty Lawson that will all want minutes. Defensively they are weaker, and Galinari is not going to return until midway through the season. There are a lot of factors at play here to make Shaw’s job of reaching the playoffs very difficult. There is a very good possibility that this team drops significantly and falls out of the playoffs.
