What is your knee-jerk reaction to Hue Jackson's claim that Al Davis offered him the position of general manager before hiring him as offensive coordinator in 2010?
Go ahead, let it sink in -- Jackson told Sports Illustrated that Davis wanted Jackson to replace him as Raiders GM, but that Jackson turned him down because, as the article states, "his passion is coaching and working with players."
No doubt Jackson did a phenomenal job in turning around the Raiders' offense in his two years in Oakland. But the G.M. thing? Hard to imagine.
In fact, the first thing that comes to my mind is one of the last things Jackson said as Raiders coach, in what turned out to be his final media conference, on Jan. 2, 2012.
