In honor of Jackie Robinson Day I have decided to re-post my blog from December 19th about the time Vin Scully raced Jackie Robinson on ice skates. It was very popular and deserved the re-blog treatment.

Here you go:

I was sitting in my backyard around the fire watching the Dodgers game on my laptop when Vin Scully told this story about the time when he raced Jackie Robinson on ice skates. I'm not a Dodgers' fan, but I love listening to Scully's velvet voice tell stories to fill time...and sitting around a roaring fire with a frosty beverage in your hand is the way baseball should be watched.

Here is his version:

Scully's version of the story went viral the next day, but has largely been forgotten about. Until today.

"Dodgers History" on Twitter tweeted a photo from the start of the race. Not that we thought that Vin Scully made up the story, but sometimes you have to wonder about some of his tall tales. If I had to fill that much air time I'd probably start making stuff up.

Today brings us photo evidence
