It was happy times all around in Anaheim on Monday night for Opening Day...until the ceremonial first pitch happened. Angles' hitting coach Don Baylor has clearly not been drinking his Ovaltine.
The Angels signed Vladimir Guerrero to a one-day contract. He was invited to Opening Day to officially retire as an Angel (should have been an Expo...but whatever) and throw out the first pitch. New Angels' hitting coach Don Baylor was tasked with the job of catching the first pitch...it didn't go well.
The initial reports were vague, but the club's Twitter account later confirmed the diagnosis of a fractured femur. Not too many people can say that they broke their leg catching a 40mph soft toss.
The look on Mike Trout's face at the end of this video says it all. Perfect.
